  • Do I need to make a reservation to come and paint?
No! We do accept walk-ins. Tables in our studio are first come, first served, so if you expect the studio to be busy, we'd recommend making a reservation, just in case. If your party is larger than 4, we'd advise making a reservation so we can hold a table large enough for your entire party. If you would prefer to make a reservation, you can do so here.
  • How much does it cost to paint a piece of pottery?
Most of our pieces cost between $30-60 + tax, though we also have pieces that are less expensive and more so. This fee includes the piece itself, the paint and glaze used to make it into a gorgeous, custom piece of art, and our studio fees. To inquire about a specific piece, you can call our studio at (606) 305-1625. We also charge a $5 studio fee per painter to cover the cost of our potteristas, paint, kiln, and more.
  • How long does it take?
That's entirely up to you, but may also depend on the size of the piece you select! If you work quickly, you may finish within the hour. However, if you choose a larger piece, or if you prefer to take your time, the process may take up to two hours. Either way, go at your own pace and enjoy the experience!
  • I'd like to reserve space for a private pottery painting party. How do I do that?
We love private events! Just call our office at (606) 305-1625 to make your reservation. You will need to know how many people are attending and how many will be painting pottery. We do require 10 painters to have access to our private room and 20 painters to close our facility for your event. Availability is first come, first served. Check out www.thehipkiln.com/parties for more information.
  • Do you accept gift cards?
Yes! To purchase a gift card, follow this link: https://square.link/u/Or5gJqG1.
  • What is a studio fee?
We charge a $5 studio fee for all painters. For private parties, this fee may occasionally be higher, depending on the desires of the party. The studio fee covers the cost of paint, utensils, kiln firing, and the care and keeping of your piece until you come pick it up. This fee is non-refundable.
